No annual EV fee: Florida, per the Tax Foundation (July 2026)
$50 maximum: Pinellas County surtax on a vehicle purchase
Can you get a tax credit on a Porsche EV?
Not on a vehicle acquired today. The federal clean vehicle credits for new EVs (up to $7,500), used EVs, and leased or commercial EVs ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. Florida does not offer its own EV credit.
If you signed a binding contract and made a payment on or before September 30, 2025, the vehicle may still qualify even if it was delivered later; a tax professional can confirm. For everyone else shopping now, the real savings come from Florida's capped county surtax, financing offers, your trade-in, and the lower cost of charging at home.

Why Porsche models rarely qualified, even before the credits ended
Purchase credit
The new clean vehicle credit required final assembly in North America. Porsche builds the Taycan, Macan Electric, and Cayenne Electric in Europe, so buying one outright did not earn the credit.
Leasing
Leasing companies could claim the commercial clean vehicle credit and sometimes passed the value through in the lease terms. That credit also ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.
Loan interest
The newer car loan interest deduction, worth up to $10,000 a year in deductible interest, requires U.S. final assembly. Check the window label or the VIN on any vehicle you consider.
Electric Porsche starting prices and Florida sales tax
Model | Starting base MSRP | Estimated Florida sales tax (see note) | Shop at Porsche Clearwater |
Macan Electric (2027) | $80,300 | About $5,009
Cayenne Electric (2026) | $109,000 | About $6,731
Taycan (2027) | $111,900 | About $6,905 |
Note: Base MSRPs exclude the $2,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee, options, taxes, title, registration, and dealer charges. Tax estimates apply 6% Florida sales tax to the base MSRP plus the $2,350 fee, plus the $50 maximum Pinellas County surtax. A trade-in can lower the taxable price; dealer fees and options can raise it.

Porsche EV tax credit questions
Is there a federal tax credit for a new Porsche EV in 2026?
No. The federal new clean vehicle credit (Section 30D), the used clean vehicle credit (Section 25E), and the commercial clean vehicle credit (Section 45W) all ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025, under the 2025 federal tax law known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which the IRS now calls the Working Families Tax Cuts.
Did Porsche EVs ever qualify for the $7,500 credit?
Not for a direct purchase. The new clean vehicle credit required final assembly in North America, and Porsche builds its vehicles in Europe. Before the credits ended, some leases reflected the commercial clean vehicle credit claimed by the leasing company, but that credit has ended as well.
Do Porsche plug-in hybrids such as the Cayenne E-Hybrid get a tax credit?
No. Plug-in hybrids fell under the same federal clean vehicle credits, which ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.
Can I deduct the interest on a Porsche car loan?
The new federal car loan interest deduction for 2025 through 2028 applies only to new vehicles that underwent final assembly in the United States. Porsche does not build vehicles in the United States, so new Porsche models generally do not qualify. You can confirm a vehicle's final assembly location on the window label or through its VIN.
Does Florida offer an EV tax credit or rebate?
No. Florida has no statewide EV purchase credit or rebate. As of July 2026, the Tax Foundation also lists no annual Florida registration surcharge for electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids.
How much sales tax will I pay on an electric Porsche in Pinellas County?
Florida charges 6% state sales tax on the vehicle price, and Pinellas County adds a 1% surtax that applies only to the first $5,000, a maximum of $50. On a Macan Electric with a total MSRP of $82,650, that comes to about $5,009 before dealer fees, options, or a trade-in. The surtax follows the county where you register the vehicle.
